When You Give, Let it Go!

GIVING

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17

When we give, God says it’s to be with NO STRINGS ATTACHED! – “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:” (Matthew 6:3) The idiom “let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth” speaks of true humility and brokenness in our giving – and it’s “more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
It’s witchcraft to use your giving against someone you gave to. This is an inner evil, an iniquity that must be repented of and denounced. If you are going to give – just let it go! It’s wasn’t yours in the first place. You own nothing – it’s all God’s. “all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.” (1 Chronicles 29:14) ….

Of Matthew 6:3 William MacDonald writes:

“When the follower of Christ does a charitable deed, it is to be done in secret. It should be so secret that Jesus told His disciples ‘let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:’ Jesus uses this graphic figure of speech to show that our charitable deed should be for the Father, and not to gain notoriety for the giver. This passage should not be pressed to prohibit any gift that might be seen by others, since it is virtually impossible to make all one’s contributions strictly anonymous. It simply condemns the blatant display of giving.” William MacDonald, Believer’s Bible Commentary, p. 1223

Here’s a wider view of the passage:

mathew
“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:1-4

The Truth about Holiness

“Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” Exodus 15:11

HOLINESS is NOT a work of the flesh saints any more than salvation is of mere men or a work of men (Galatians 3:3).

“But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.” Psalms 37:39

He who saves, sanctifies – as we abide in Him (John 15:1-6; Philippians 2:12-13, etc.). Holiness is a work of the Holy Ghost in the life of the abiding saint (John 15:1-16). Any holiness that is outside of this biblical truth/model is a work of the flesh and God-less (Matthew 23:23-25; Galatians 3:3). CHRIST alone can save and sanctify! Only Jesus is the Savior and Sanctifier! 1 Corinthians 1:30 says “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and SANCTIFICATION, and redemption:” As the appropriation of all things in Christ’s kingdom, it’s by faith saints! (Romans 4:4-5; Hebrews 11:6) Please share this post.

holiness quote - todd tomasella

Holy Scripture reveals that there is a “True holiness” as opposed to a false or feigned holiness (Matthew 23:23-25; Ephesians 4:24). Which one are you walking in?

PERSONAL HOLINESS IS ESSENTIAL AND YET, IT’S NOT A WORK OF THE FLESH BUT RATHER A WORK OF GOD IN THE LIFE OF THE TRULY BORN AGAIN, CURRENTLY ABIDING BELIEVER WHOSE “FIRST LOVE” IS JESUS CHRIST (REVELATION 2:4-5).

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” Psalms 138:8

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13

Divine Boldness is not Brash

divine boldness

Biblically speaking, boldness is not brashness or being obnoxious. Actually those are a bad witness, aren’t they? Boldness is simply being fully confident in Christ and not being ashamed. Boldness should be married with great joy, grace, mercy, and love.
The Bible says that “the righteous are bold as a lion” and not that “the righteous are brash as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1)

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1

It seems obvious by reading the whole verse above, that Christ-glorifying boldness means one is grounded and confident in Christ and not timid or fearful. They are meek and temperate and settled in an abiding relationship with Jesus and therefore live free from sinful fear which is cast out by God’s love (1 John 4:16-18).

When God’s boldness is in a person through a rooted relationship with Christ, the 9 fruit of the Spirit will be manifesting (John 15:1-16).

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:22-24

The key to an abiding relationship, fellowship with Christ is the daily cross – out of which will unfailingly produce the fruit that glorifies the LORD.

Father, in Jesus’ holy name, please instill yourself deeply in us this day. Let our whole identity be Christ. Steep and season in us Thy grace, truth, and love LORD Jesus.

THE PRAYER OF THE EARLY CHURCH WAS FOR DIVINE BOLDNESS. NOTE THAT THEY WERE DEPENDENT UPON THE LORD, SEEKING HIM BEFORE THEY WENT OUT AND DURING THAT WHOLE TIME THEY WERE BEING PERSECUTED. WHEN UNDER GREAT PERSECUTION, HAVING JUST BEEN BEATEN FOR CHRIST, THE APOSTLES CRIED OUT TO JESUS.

“And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:29-31

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our LORD, we ask You to grant Your people Christ-like boldness which is full of grace and truth. Quicken us in those times of persecution, to cry out to Thee for Your strength and boldness. Please keep us from misrepresenting You – from using Your holy name in vain. Bless me to be crucified with Christ, truth. In Jesus’ name.

True Ministers of Christ

truth quote

(PLEASE READ) “WE NEED MINISTERS AND PREACHERS WHO ARE MEN OF TRUTH, WHO FEAR GOD, AND TELL IT LIKE IT IS AND SET A GODLY EXAMPLE !!

A godly preacher will love you enough to preach the Truth to you and bring correction to you even if you do not like it! He will not be a crowd pleaser!! Woe to the minister who loves the applause of men and who avoids reproof, rebuke, correction and heartfelt exhortation! We are not called to be liked but to minister the Word of God.

SOME JUST WANT SWEETS WHEN WHAT THEY NEED IS THE STRONG MEDICINE OF THE WORD OF GOD! EVEN MANY OF OUR MODERN SONGS LACK GODLY CONTENT THAT SHOULD PUT THE FOCUS ON GOD HIMSELF. Some are very repetitive and very shallow and the focus is too much on me, me, me and how I feel.

Thank God for the ones that do glorify God! Just read an old hymnal when you are on your knees. You see depth and heartfelt convictions and biblical truths put to song.

We need godly ministers with the character of the men who served with Moses!

predators-larger-shadow3

predators larger shadowExodus 18:21 “Moreover thou shall provide out of the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers…”

MY HEART BREAKS THAT THERE ARE FEW MEN LIKE THIS TODAY. WHERE IS THE FEAR OF GOD IN THE PULPIT? WHERE ARE THERE GODLY MEN WHO HATE GREED? WHERE ARE THE MEN WHO LIVE AND PREACH THE TRUTH WITH INTEGRITY??

We need godly ministers who please God and do not tickle ears! Men who preach what is True not what is popular! Truth that convicts! Truth that converts! Truth that transforms people’s lives! Men filled with the Spirit of Truth!

We do not compromise the Truth, we declare the Truth! Truth is to be applied, not denied!

Spineless, soft, people pleasing preachers will tell you what you want to hear, not what you need to hear! Remember the local church will become like its pastor! He sets the example! I do not want pop culture opinions and smooth sayings!

1. A.W. TOZER : “I pray I may preach with such convicting power that my people will sweat. I do not want them to leave my services always feeling good. The last thing I want is to give them some kind of religious tranquilizer and let them go to hell in their relaxation! The messages in our churches should make backslidden Christians sweat!”

2. A.W. TOZER: ‘The pastor when facing his congregation on Sunday dare not think of the effect that his sermon will have on his job, his salary or his future relationship with the Church. No man is a good preacher who is not willing to lay his future on the line every time he expounds the Word!”

2nd Timothy 4:2-4 “Preach the Word: be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn away their ears from the Truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

DEAR FRIEND WE ARE IN THESE TIMES RIGHT NOW!!! FEW PREACH THE WORD! FEW REPROVE THEIR PEOPLE! FEW REBUKE ANYONE LEST THEY LOSE PEOPLE AND MONEY! MOST WILL NOT ENDURE “SOUND DOCTRINE.”

deceiverssmallThey want an instant “easy-going, relaxing” cozy false gospel that feeds their lusts for the things of the world! Where are the godly pilgrims who are on the narrow road that leads to heaven?? Pilgrims who set their affections on things above not on earthly things! The earth bound gospel that focuses our attention on the world is not the real gospel. The real gospel produces a person who is radical for Jesus and lives holy unto the Lord in a rotten sin-filled world!!

3. Let me give you one more quote from A.W. TOZER- “In many Churches the gospel has been so watered down until the solution is so weak that if it were medicine it would not cure anyone.” SHARE THIS POST WITH OTHERS AS THE LORD LEADS YOU.

PS-Jesus Himself said “the lusts of other things will choke the Word and it will become unfruitful.” Preachers who focus on “things” and not on knowing our high and holy God are deceiving you! Wake up and read the Word and develop discernment!

Two Lines Running Thru the Bible

Two Lines

Todd Tomasella: There are two lines running down thru the Bible from beginning to end.  We will here examine a few.

There is the one line of the life, love, faith and the grace of God.  And there is the other line of law, human effort, and performance-based acceptance thru works of the law.

Here are examples of the two lines:

The Tree of Life vs the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  Gen 2-4.  The first tree represents the Life of Christ, a tree which God returns us to and gives us access to again thru the cross, our death with Christ.  Rom 6:3-5; Gal 2:20; Col 3:4. The other Tree is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which teaches us that law is the way to God and a way to know the difference between good and evil so we can try hard to do good and avoid evil, thereby gaining God’s acceptance.  It is the TREE OF LAW which leads to sin and finally death.  1 Cor 15:56; 2 Cor 3:6-end of chapter 3; Rom 7:5, 10.

Next we have the FIRST ADAM who ate from the tree of law and fell into sin and death, which sin we inherit from Adam as it is passed down to us through the DNA of our earthly father.  But the first Adam is then contrasted with a second line who is the SECOND ADAM, Jesus Christ, who died for us and provided the way back into the garden of the life of God.  Eternal life is not a period of time as much as it is a Person, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:14-21.

faith justification works

Then we have Abel vs Cain. Abel represents the correct line or way to approach God which is to access God thru the cross by faith. Cain represents the false way to approach God, by human effort to perform works of law, or by our performance rather than by Christ’s performance at Calvary. Abel approached God in the only acceptable way, thru death as represented by the sacrificial death of his livestock. Gen 4:4. Killed animals are a foreshadowing of Christ’s sacrificial death for us. This way of death, our death with Christ, is the only prescribed way to approach God, only thru the death of His Son and our being “crucified with Christ.”  Gal 2:19-21. Cain’s presentation to God represented the Tree of Law, his toil in the earth to produce fruit, a false way of SELF-effort to gain God’s acceptance by our own good works and not by faith in the work of Christ at Calvary.  God did not accept Cain’s offering and this made Cain very angry at Abel kind of like the elder son got angry at his father and brother in Luke 15 when his father did not honor elder son’s good works but rather showed grace to the prodigal son.  The elder son is the Cain of the prodigal story.  The fatted slaughtered calf symbolizes the crucified Christ.  The failed younger son was glad to get to eat at the table of the Father.  The elder son was so angry he would not come to the feast.  Luke 15.

Cain’s anger is also demonstrated by these same two lines during the days of Jesus.  The legalistic Pharisees and High Priests (in line of Cain) hated Jesus.  Jesus lived the lifestyle of the cross then died on the cross.  The legalists wanted to kill him because He continued to violate their law: including the law of the Sabbath, He would not agree to stone the woman caught by them in adultery, He healed the lepers by direct touch, He spoke parable after parable which made the legalists the butt of most of His stories and the grace person the hero.  These legalists were the Cains of Jesus’ day.  Jesus represented the Tree of the Life of God.  Col 3:4.  The legalistic Pharisees were in the line of the Tree of Law and Cain.  Jesus was in the line of Abel.

Saul, later Paul, was at first one of the legalists in line of Cain.  He was a Pharisee who, under the law was considered blameless.  Phili 3.  He accused, condemned, bound, carried off to incarcerate and killed Christians.  See Acts 7,8 and 9.  But on Damascus road he changed lines after being blinded and knocked off his high horse.  He thereafter became a gospel teacher of the cross, crucifixion with Christ, agape love and the great Apostle of grace, no longer law.  Acts 7,8 and 9; Rom 6:14.  The two contrasting lines are then seen in Paul vs the legalistic Judaizers who followed Paul around everywhere and tried to pervert or reverse his gospel and his grace converts back to the law.  Gal 1:4-10.  To go back to Law will sever one from Christ and cause him to fall from grace.  This is a fearful thing that could happen to a grace convert who turns back to living under law.  Gal 5:4.

todd tomasella's book promo

In summary, most preachers today are in the line of Cain preaching pure law or at least mixing law with grace.  Only a very few preach the pure grace, life, unconditional love, mercy, forgiveness, and goodness of God.  The grace preachers are in the line of Abel and teach the only acceptable approach to God which is to “present your body as a living sacrifice,” the only true form of “worship.”  Rom 12:1.  Mixing law with grace is like putting a little arsenic in someone’s sweet tea.  It will kill them just as Cain killed Abel, the Pharisees killed Jesus, and the Judaizers called for Paul to be executed which he was.

Which line are you in, the angry line of legalism, human self-effort and the performance-based works of the law (Deut 28) to gain acceptance from God OR the line of Abel, Jesus, and Paul, grace, faith, love and willingness to die with Christ to gain access to God (Gal 2:16) and to go deeper and higher in Him?

There is a great abyss between these two lines.   Jesus bridged the gap.
