Top Christian Ministries Get Fleeced

Fleecer’s Fleeced
By Gary Amirault

This year seems to be a harvest year, and the harvest was indeed plentiful. The leading Christian ministries headquartered in the United States were fleeced of hundreds of millions of, no not wool, but millions of your hard-earned dollars. It seems their tickling ears just couldn’t resist a rumor floating around the Christian financial community that a Philanthropic organization headed by an Evangelical was offering a matching fund program which guaranteed them a doubling of their, (or should I say your) money. By being able to drop names like Rockefeller, Billy Graham, etc. as references, John G. Bennett was able to convince the financial officers of the leading Christian organizations to invest hundreds of millions of believer’s money into a fund called New Era.

New Era, an interesting name considering John Bennett had many connections Evangelicals would term “New Age.”

It seems Mr. Bennett had concocted what was known in the investment field as a “Ponzi scheme.” The idea is to take the money the latter investors give to pay off the earlier investors. Then the news goes out that this thing really works. Greedy people looking for a quick dollar are usually the only ones who fall for such a scheme.

An accountant from one of the Christian Colleges saw through this scheme and recommended his college not participate. They rejected his suggestion. He followed up on his hunch, reported his finding to the proper federal authorities and the hammer came down. It was a scam.

A partial list of those Christian ministries who were fleeced are:

  • James Dobson’s Focus on the family James Dobson’s Focus on the Family
  • Pat Robertson’s 700 Club
  • Bill Bright’s Campus Crusade
  • Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship
  • World Vision
  • Youth For Christ, International
  • Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship
  • Salvation Army
  • Walk Through the Bible Ministries
  • Young Life
  • Moody Bible Institute
  • Christian Broadcasting Network
  • Wheaton College
  • Chapel of the Air

. . . And the list goes on and on and on. The government estimates as much as $550 million dollars were involved. Surely these ministries will throw the blame onto anything other than themselves.

The American church, as I mentioned on the audio tape entitled, the Church is a rich prostitute, owns over a trillion dollars of real estate, stocks, bonds, etc. Its gathering and use of this money are on extremely unscriptural grounds.

In the last Dew, Todd Tomasella recommended some of you to ask for names of ministries in foreign countries that you can personally help without Tentmaker becoming a middleman. Can you now begin to see why I recommend this method rather than the ones being used by the above-listed ministries? The god of Mammon rules in the American church, I don’t care what anyone says. It reigns supreme.

Handling finances are perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of the Christian walk. It is easy to get duped. This area is the area of ministry I hate the most. I know I am just as capable of falling into these pits as well as anyone else. I have shared some of that on a tape, Plates, Buckets, Bags, and Envelopes. I sure don’t have all the answers on the subject of the proper way to manage ministry money.

Many ministers do the best they can and still fall short just like the rest of us. Fortunately, we serve a God of mercy. Some ministers, unfortunately too many, are in ministry purely for self-gain. These stars will all eventually fall. At least one of the ministries involved in this “Ponze scheme” will be out of business next year due to their loss.

Please do not let these kinds of events stop you from giving. If you do, you will fall into the same pit. Rethink the whole concept of what is a ministry, how should it be supported, how can you be the best steward of what our Father has given you to invest.

One suggestion that might be helpful is this: Jesus said if you see someone hungry, feed him. He didn’t say send the money to a ministry headquartered in a nice posh office building on the prime real estate that will only be able to spend less than 10% of your dollar to the hungry one. (Because their salaries and expenses and profit-making schemes that fail have eaten up all the rest.) Give the dollar directly to the hungry one. Give him Christ the True Bread at the same time. Enter into your ministry, the ministry of reconciling the whole world … one at a time.

Todd Tomasella:

I encourage you once again to write for addresses of those overseas who desperately need you. Your dollars personally invested into the poorer countries of the world will reap a return far greater than “Ponze schemes.” A dollar plowed into Africa or Asia will do far more than what a dollar can do invested in many American ministries. Please pray about writing for those addresses.

HE WAS KNOWN TO THEM IN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD

Todd Tomasella: Luke 24:35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.

breaking-bread-Todd Tomasella

Todd Tomasella

As Christians, we no longer know Jesus in the flesh. 2 Cor 5:16. We know Him as the Christ, as His risen Person, Body, Soul and Spirit. The Lord is the Spirit. We are enabled to see His loving and gentle face thru the cross. 2 Cor 3:17; 4:6.

After His death, the risen Christ joined two men walking down the road to Emmaus. They did not know Him though they had been followers of Jesus.

Luke 24:16. But their eyes were HOLDEN (still bound in slavery) that they should not know Him.

It was only after He BROKE bread and distributed it to them that they were able to recognize Him. Their eyes and ears had to be delivered from slavery to Satan’s deception. Rev 12:9. Until that moment a veil had remained over their eyes. Satan had disguised himself as God in many Old Testament passages. 2 Cor 11:13-15.

Luke 24:35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how HE WAS KNOWN TO THEM IN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD.

This “breaking of bread” signifies the broken body of Christ at Calvary. His distribution of the broken pieces of bread to the two men signifies our participation with Christ in the brokenness of His death. We have been and continue to be crucified with Christ. Gal 2:20. We are partakers or participants with Christ in His cross. 1 Cor 11:26. Only then can we truly and intimately know the Lord.

We cannot truly realize the risen Christ until we undergo a death with Him. Rom 6:3-6. Knowing He died for my sins is true but too shallow. We must die the death, too. Thru this experience of His death we are freed from our slavery to sin and the law in order to really know Christ intimately. Until that moment our eyes are bound in slavery and restrained from knowing the only true God and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. We cannot fully realize the purity of God’s character of unconditional love, or His humble, meek, gentle, vulnerable, lamb-like, dove-like, single and simple personality. We remain blinded by Satan and have received no revelation of who God really is, the One Jesus came to tell us about. We see God as a wrathful, killing, threatening, retaliating, vengeful, punishing judge or cop in the sky just waiting to zap us for our sin. We see Him just as the Pharisees did and as Saul did before Saul was converted and became Paul. Somehow, we can’t really trust a vengeful wrathful “God” like that.

Paul wrote about people back then who read Moses and the Old Testament but were totally blinded to underlying truth there, that God is a God who loves us unconditionally and sent His Son to tell about Him and then to die for us and rescue us from our deception under sin and the law.

2 Corinthians3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

V14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

V15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

V16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

V17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

V18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Satan has used sin and the law of Moses to blind Christianity to the message of the cross and to who God and His Son really are. But through the cross, we are freed from (Moses) law of sin and death. We are thereby given new eyes to see and ears to hear. Rom 8:1-4.

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

V5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

After the breaking of the bread in Like 24, Jesus opened to the two men the real but hidden truths of Old Testament, things that they had never seen before. Their hearts then burned within them!

And it came to pass, as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He OPENED to us the scriptures. And they ROSE UP the same hour . . .  Luke 24:30-33.

Bottom line truth: We cannot see, know or hear from Christ unless and until we are crucified and risen with Christ becoming dead to sin and the law. Rom 6 and 7. We can only know Him IN THE BREAKING of the bread, a BROKENNESS that brings us to a helpless humility, a surrender and a yielding over of the control of our minds and lives to God. This yielding is our death with Christ. Rom 12:1-2. In this we eat His flesh and drink His blood. John 6:52-56. Satan’s veil of deceit is then torn from top to bottom revealing the true reality of the loving nature of God.

We can only know God through our brokenness! We can only understand the Old Testament by being crucified and raised up with Christ.

THE THANKFUL HEART IS A GRATEFUL HEART

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:20

Thanksgiving

Todd Tomasella

Todd Tomasella: The instruction to give thanks appears 35 times in Scripture. Picture yourself literally handing a gift to someone. Okay, we are to give thanks to God hand it over. As believers we have been given the mandate and privilege of giving thanks daily for the blessing of Jesus Christ who is the propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for the remission of our sins. (Romans 3:25) We can also be thankful for the innumerable blessings we now have and those awaiting us in eternity. We are to give thanks always for all things.

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday instituted in America to pause and give thanks for all we have, yet for the believer, thanksgiving is to be a perpetual state of the heart, confession of the mouth, and way of life. Cultivating a thankful heart is essential to contentment and peace. Thanksgiving also displaces covetousness.

”Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Giving thanks is also an indispensable element of prayer. Peace is associated with it (Phil. 4:6-7). Peace and contentment are the fruits of the heart that is full of continual thanksgiving. Many times in Scripture, prayer and giving thanks are coupled together.

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2

In our times of prayer, and all day long, we should learn to cultivate a heart that is thankful for all of the things we do have – and tell God and others with our mouths.

Have you found that when you are busy verbalizing to God and others, your thanksgiving for all He has blessed you with, murmuring, complaining, discontent and covetousness find no home in your heart? Thanksgiving displaces all of these enemies to our walk with Christ.

Are not His abundant blessings reason to burst forth with exuberant praise and thanksgiving? Remember that the LORD is worthy of your praise and thanks and that a thankful life is one of peace and contentment.

—– “WHERE THERE IS TRUE PRAYER, THERE THANKSGIVING AND GRATITUDE STAND BY, READY TO RESPOND TO THE ANSWER WHEN IT COMES. AS PRAYER BRINGS THE ANSWER, SO THE ANSWER BRINGS FORTH GRATITUDE AND PRAISE. AS PRAYER SETS GOD TO WORK, SO ANSWERED PRAYER SETS THANKSGIVING TO WORK. THANKSGIVING FOLLOWS ANSWERED PRAYER JUST AS DAY SUCCEEDS NIGHT. TRUE PRAYER AND GRATITUDE LEAD TO FULL CONSECRATION, AND CONSECRATION LEADS TO MORE PRAYING AND BETTER PRAYING. A CONSECRATED LIFE IS A LIFE OF BOTH PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING.” E.M. BOUNDS, E.M. BOUNDS ON PRAYER, P. 308

PRAYER: LORD Jesus, thank You for my every breath and the privilege to be your creation and ambassador. Make me to be abundantly fruitful in your kingdom this day. I love you my LORD Jesus. Amen.

The Valley of Vision

Isaiah’s vision of the cross. Isaiah 22

vally-of-vision

Todd tomasella: Is 22 begins with the vision of Isaiah, where there is a coming judgment of Judah. All spiritual vision comes to us when we are in a valley of trouble, destruction and despair. This is the experience of the cross of Christ.

Isaiah 22:6-8

6 And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 And he discovered the covering of (removed the protection of) Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.

The Lord had called the people of Judah to weeping, mourning, baldness, stripping and sackcloth. These are all foreshadowing of times when we are called to take up the cross. The people of Judah refused the cross of mourning and stripping and chose for self and self-indulgence instead.

Todd tomasella said that this chapter is a picture of the key doctrine of the message of the cross named “redemptive withdrawal.” God removes His protective hand and turns the people of Judah over to the destructive hands of enemies, Elam and Kir. See verse 4 quoted above. God weeps for His people when turning over to the enemy has to occur. 22:4.

We are always being handed over to death for Jesus sake in order that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal bodies. 2 Cor 4:11. This is Redemptive Withdrawal.

Isaiah 22:12-14.

12 And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die

14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you TILL YE DIE, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

There had to be a death to purge them of their wickedness. This is a foreshadowing of our own need to experience the cross in order to die to self, to be purged, purified, sifted, sanctified and grow in grace.

Shebna, steward or treasurer of the house of Judah, a type of Satan, had become the head of the house of Judah. So God told Isaiah to go and say some things to Shebna. See the 5 verses below:

Isaiah 22:15-19.

V15. Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

17 Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.

V18 is a foreshadowing of Satan’s self-destruction at the cross. John 12:31. Satan was and is being violently cast out by his own act of violence against Jesus at the cross. God’s only violent act of all time is the cross of Christ. At Calvary, Satan “hewed him out” his own burial place in the Rock, Christ crucified. See v16 above.

Is 22:19. “And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.” Satan and all his arrogant followers are taken down from the throne of self-thru the destruction of the cross of Calvary.

The remaining verses in Is 22 are about Eliakim, a type of Christ, who will come and take over Satan’s house and kingdom thru the cross. The whole thing, Satan’s position, his fallen angel followers, his possessions and his people (the entire “old man”) will “hang” with Christ when Jesus is nailed to that “sure place” at Calvary. All of Satan’s kingdom will be “cut off” thru the cross. The key of government which is put on Eliakim’s shoulders is the cross that Jesus shouldered and took up, for us and as us. The entire old man was crucified with Christ. Rom 6:6. Satan and his fallen angels were stripped off and spoiled at the cross. Col 2:15. Their stripping and spoiling of Jesus was His stripping and spoiling of them. Satan was defanged by his own act at Calvary. 1 Cor 2:6-8; Heb 2:14. The door way of the cross is a door which only Christ can open and shut.

Isaiah 22:20-25.

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.

24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

25 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

To summarize, God removed His protective cover off of Judah and allowed Elam and Judah to attack. Shebna, a type of Satan, the steward and head of the house of Judah, was destroyed thru the attack of Judah by these enemies. Eliakim, type of Jesus, was hung and the entire weight of Shebna’s and Judah’s glory was taken down with Him forever at Calvary.

The valley of vision is a prophecy of Christ crucified, a death that “destroyed the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8.

Coming Home Afresh to Jesus

Todd Tomasella: Here’s Your Chance to Come Home – Where You Belong

This is a Paramount Biblical Truth – Please Grab it, No Matter Where You are today! Know This: Jesus loves you and Died to Save You – He Gave His Very Life on that Cross to Make You His Own.

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4

“Say unto them, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11

Choosing to Hear the Word of Your Maker

matt-11-28-30-come-Jesus-254x300

“He that is of God hearth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” John 8:47

Jesus makes it clear to us that if we hear and hearken to His words, we are truly in and of Him. If not, we’re not truly in Him. He loves you. Jesus beckons you:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

IT MAY REFRESH YOU TO KNOW THAT THE SON OF GOD DID NOT COME TO THE EARTH TO START A RELIGION OR MAKE YOU RELIGIOUS. HE IS THE DIAMETRICAL, SWORN ENEMY OF RELIGION AND HOW IT MISREPRESENTS HIM (MATTHEW 23). NO, INSTEAD, JESUS CAME TO FREELY FORGIVE AND GIVE YOU A NEW LIFE – A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.

IF you avoid, push away from, and shun the light of truth, it’s because your heart is not turned over to Christ – no matter what mere “form of godliness” you have in your life (2 Cor 3:14-16; 2 Timothy 3:5). When you truly turn your heart over to Jesus, the darkness will be vanquished by He who the “light of the world.” (John 8:12)

isaiah-41-10a-696x257

“But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it (the heart) shall turn to the Lord, the vail (darkness, deception) shall be taken away.” 2 Corinthians 3:14-16

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:19-21

rev-22-17-water-matt-11-28-30-evangelism-soul-winning-300x278

It’s only by Christ’s light – when we turn our hearts to Him truly, transparently – that all darkness is eradicated.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12

“Then Jesus said unto them, yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”  John 12:35

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” Ephesians 5:8

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:” 1 John 1:6

Those who are not walking in truth – holding themselves accountable to it, are shunning the light of Christ to their own demise and ultimate damnation.

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (stories, story tellers).” 2 Timothy 4:2-4

Without exception, when a man authentically loves the LORD, he loves truth and allows that divine truth to change His heart and life.

“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

PRAYER: Holy Father in Heaven, in the name of the very light of the world Himself – the LORD Jesus Christ, I come to you humbly. Today is my day to be changed from the inside out by you. I hear your call. I told you more than once that I wanted your will alone in my life. You heard that and are hastening me to thyself – to your love, truth, and safety – my only hiding place, here and forever. Right this very moment, if never before, I lay my life into your holy hands, receiving your mercy, grace, forgiveness, and the infusement of your love. In this very instant, I worship you alone LORD Jesus, my LORD, my only Savior, and my God. Please fill this vessel afresh for your eternal glory, for truly I am crucified with You Jesus and raised up by you alone and for your glory alone, from this moment forward. I’m all Yours LORD Jesus and you’re all mine. I love You Jesus and thank You for finding and saving my sinful, wretched soul into your kingdom family. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Now, if you prayed that beloved…. Listen to this song below. Listen to your Father’s message to you. Your life is over and His has begun and will prominently reign in you from here forth said by Todd tomasella.

When We Give, God says it’s To Be with NO STRINGS Attached!

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

jesus-cross-tree-1-pet-2-24

When we are blessed to give, God tells us that it is to be with “NO STRINGS ATTACHED”.

“But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:” (Matt. 6:3).

This phrase speaks of true humility and brokenness in our charitable giving.

It is witchcraft to use your alms against individuals you give to. This is an internal evil. So, if you are going to give – do it with a cheerful heart and just let it go! It’s all God’s.

“ALL things come of thee and of thine own have we given thee.” (1 Chronicles 29:14)=

According to William MacDonald

Whenever we give, it  should be done secretly as much as is possible.

“It is MORE BLESSED to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
